How to download Android Oreo today

in #utopian-io6 years ago

Do not want to wait for the new version of Android to arrive on your phone? Well, you should read this.

Google announced on Monday that Android 8.0 will be officially known as Android Oreo, and that the update will arrive "soon" once it passes the tests of the operators. There is a quick and easy way to update yourself and is known as Android Beta Program.

Signing up for the Android Beta Program ensures that your device will receive the latest beta software as soon as Google makes it available. Once you sign up for the program, your compatible device will receive an update to install Android Oreo.

Signing up is easy, but there is a warning you should know before doing it: The only way to revert to a stable version of Android is to completely clean your device, erasing all your personal information. In this case, however, Android Oreo should be more or less finalized and should not, in theory, revert to Android Nougat.

  • You must be the owner of a recent Nexus to participate. The complete list of devices includes the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus Player, Pixel, Pixel XL and the Pixel C tablet.

  • Visit the Android Beta Program page and sign up with the same Google account that you use on your device.

  • There you will find a list of devices that qualify for the update. Click on Enroll Device together with the device where you want Android Oreo installed.

  • Accept the terms and conditions and that famous warning about the possibility of returning to a stable version of Android, and then click on Join Beta.

To leave the beta program, go back to the page where the program is and click on Unenroll Device. You will get another update over-the-air to your device that is what will erase all the information you have there to install the latest official version of Android.
