No texts is visible when a txt file is opened from external SD card storage on simple file manager with the diary

Expected behavior

I expected I'll be able to open and read txt files with the diary app.

Actual behavior

Opening a txt file in my external SD card from simple file manager with the diary app is empty.

How to reproduce

download the apps ( Diary and Simple file manager )
launch the apps and allow all permissions.
Goto external SD card storage and open a txt file with the diary app.

Device: Tecno Camon CM
Operating system: Android 7.0
Software Version: Dairy( 1.28) Simple file manager(3.4.0)
