Clicking on gallery is not supposed to take you to your mobile phone gallery, instead there is an internal gallery of stored pictures which have been uploaded using esteem app.
I guess you haven't uploaded any pictures through esteem app before that is why it is not showing anything.
In order to upload pictures, you have to click on "select picture" option and from there you will be able to upload pictures.
Once you have uploaded the pictures, you can click on "gallery" to see the list of your uploaded pictures which will be your personalised esteem gallery.
