RE: Discipline

in #values7 years ago

HI Dr. John,
I teach school in Shreveport. As teachers, we are underpaid and disrespected by all of society. It's a shame. Today's children have no respect (except for a small percentage) and this makes learning difficult. When a student is allowed to "tell an adult to shut the F up and nothing is done about it, other than writing up a referral that's never acted upon. Children that allowed to continue this disrespect in school are being set up for failure. It's very disheartening to watch a young person behave so inappropriately and do nothing about it. However, once the child gets older and disrespects a law officer , then the lesson is a hard one. I wish that society could show more respect and teach children to be respectful, so that they may have a more full filling life of happiness and blessings. I enjoyed the picture of the young soldier who looks to be about 14. Oh my, how he had to grow up fast and learn to be respectful to survive.

This is a paradox. Students need discipline. They should get it at home, but this is rare. I gave my children a very small dose. They are fine, but I risked quite a lot if I had been discovered. Pain given in love is difficult to teach. Pain given in anger is often repeated.

I can understand your way of thinking very well.
