The rumbling traffic suddenly gets still, the busy downtown of Ratnapura city freezes, all directions stop: a little squirrel went astray, onto the busy road.
He is practically surrounded by vehicles and doesn’t know which way to go. He quitters forward a few centimeters, than recoils, start to another direction, but there too are vehicles closing his way.

Everybody watches the squirrel tensely, until a biker takes on the today’s role of the savior hero, gets off his bike and starts toward the squirrel, who now knows which way to go: away from him! – and runs off the asphalt.

We all, who were keeping our fingers crossed for the squirrel, sigh with a great relief looking for each other’s eyes to change smiles. To be able to celebrate common values while gaining strength from each other.
Is there any greater miracle than the deep stamping in humans hearts of the feelings such as caring for each other, helping the ones in need, the sense of connection, that even this world, that is built on making people compete with each other, was not able to blot them out – it might sometimes hide them, though.

Luckily, there are occasions – it can even be provided by a squirrel– when we have the chance to stop, remind ourselves; meet our hearts.
