Life in the Shadows

in #veterans7 years ago

As a therapist I see many Veterans who suffer from anxiety, depression, and a few other demons lurking in their heads. They fear the "normal" world will judge them so some of them take the poison fed to them by doctors. The poison doesn't help them most days. It kills them slowly. Our society is ok with this because it keeps them"safe". Safe from anyone who would judge them, SEE them, or allow others to criticize them.

Please tell me your thoughts.

How the VA "fixes" us.

Soldiers are put into high stress environments where they have to work together as a close group. They are constantly under pressure, and many of them come to enjoy the intensity and brotherhood. When they return to civilian life they might feel totally out of place. Here is an interview with Joe Rogan and veteran Jocko Willink where they discuss some of these issues.

Thanks for your reply. I didn't see the video. Maybe it didn't post or I missed it.
