Is Monaco visa cryptocurrency card legit?

in #visa7 years ago

Currently a large chunk of advertisements are popping out of nowhere claiming to launch a visa cryptocurrency card. It is called Monaco visa cryptocurrency card. They are launching their initial coin(token) offering and offering huge rewards for the early adopters.

The entire thing seems to be phishy as the announcements are just popping through ads and some blogs while the ICO is just 24 hours away. Which gives no time for investors to research much.

The logo, website, concept are seems to be copied from a browser and a similar previously launched service.

Meanwhile the bitcoin forum is also reported that the fact the listed linked profiles doesn't affiliate with Monaco yet.

Investors beware. Do your own research and invest further at your own risk.

Lets wait and watch what turns out

At first this project looked really promising then I read a few forum posts and people are suggesting it is a scam. The CEO Kris Marszalek seems to be well known in Southeast Asia as a crypto entrepreneur. What drew me to the project was that it was supported by VISA and would allow users to spend Ether/Bitcoin wherever a VISA card was accepted. After a little more research they also have Brent Diehl in charge of payments who used to work for VISA as Prepaid Partner Solutions manager in the Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa. In my opinion its worth a small gamble!

i think its a great micro investment! into the macros!

Until they confirm a finalized agreement to use the Visa logo/payment network, this is a major caveat emptor: buyer beware. Monaco insinuates that this is a done deal, but traditionally Visa does not play nicely with cryptocurrency. Fingers crossed that Monaco succeeds here, but skeptical until they do.

Hi i came across your post and wondered if you knew anything new about the Monaco Visa card i spent $30 in the ICO but never heard back from them i know it is currently trading on Bittrex and the price is slowly going down. I'm concluding that this was a scam. I think it was trading on etherdelta but since taken down but not sure if my memory is correct. Any info i would be grateful. Thanks

MONACO BRANDS was informed of the launch of a payment card called “MONACO VISA®” by the company FORIS Limited.

The company FORIS Limited (previously called “MASTERFUND TECHNOLOGY LIMITED”) is a very new Hong Kong company, registered on 30 June 2016. It appears to operate the “MONACO VISA®” via the Swiss company “MONACO TECHNOLOGY GMBH”.

MONACO BRANDS recalls that the name “MONACO” is protected worldwide and indicates that it has not issued any authorisation to use the name “MONACO” to the companies FORIS LIMITED and MONACO TECHNOLOGY GMBH.

Furthermore, MONACO BRANDS stipulates that these two companies do not exercise any activity within the territory of the Principality of MONACO. The payment card “MONACO VISA®” therefore has no link to the territory of the Principality of MONACO.

MONACO BRANDS, whose role is to protect, increase the value of and defend all of the worldwide portfolio of the brands “MONACO” and “MONTE CARLO” associated with the Principality considers that the launch of this payment card infringes its rights.

It takes the actions of the companies FORIS LIMITED and MONACO TECHNOLOGY GMBH and intends to take all of the measures necessary to preserve the intellectual property rights which it owns. For this purpose, it has already initiated opposition proceedings against the applications to register the trademarks by FORIS LIMITED as part of this activity.

I don't know much about this stuff, but from my point of view it seemed like this amazing thing...but too good to be true. The reason for this is that Visa was shutting down people's accounts because they were using cryptos...there was all this news about people getting stranded because they were using coinbase and visa was shutting their cards down. The big credit card companies are terrified of cryptos...obviously...so I find it hard to believe that they would work along-side Monaco or any other crypto, and if they did then it would be A HUGE DEAL.
