The end of another blazing hot week, it’s been hot and bone dry for 4 weeks now and that it’s incredibly long time for the UK to bake - we really are not used to this level of near thirty degree conditions every day.
And of course running bit roasting machines every day in this weather makes it very uncomfortable, so it’s been harder work than usual struggling through the high temperatures and still keeping the coffee moving.
The hot weather has made a noticeable slow down on orders too, it’s just been too hot for drinking loads of hot drinks - so we have really caught up after the crazy volume in May with the Bank Holidays.
The extreme hot last week did show one up slight issue with EV’s - as they need to keep the battery packs in a specific range of temperature - not too hot or cold - when it’s really hot the cooling system needs to run most of the time to keep them regulated. That combined with my excessive use of the climate function via the phone app to make the cabin nice and cool before I went for a drive - sucked up a good chunk of charge and therefore range - so really whatever you a charge an EV up to - the power is not exclusively going to get you somewhere depending on circumstances. This weekend however has been more overcast so without the baking sun warming things up it has hardly used any charge over then trips out actually driving it.

We just had heavy rain which gives a slight break from the heat. I wouldn't want to be working anywhere to lots of hot equipment though.
I'm interested in how people get on with EVs. We should get one soon, but it probably won't be a Tesla. I don't really want a car to be too smart. I only want it to lock and unlock when I tell it to. Some of these systems can make them vulnerable to hacks.
