Autonomous person- A person who is capable of self-governance; thus able to make decisions and take actions based on knowledge, experience, observations of self and others. This is just a paraphrase of google's definition. I would go further and add that it is not enough to just say "capable" but to say a person who is capable AND actually PRACTICES self-governance. I believe there can be more than one type of autonomous person. A kind that has respect and tolerance for others to live their lives according to the "dictates of their own conscience" (this is a phrase I have seen here and there in state constitutions as well as spiritual doctrine) and a kind that does NOT have respect and or tolerance for anybody such as a selfish trespasser against others and their property.
