Indeed, batteries are toxic and should not be allowed to leak. They can also be recycled and reconditioned, but the big battery manufacturers would prefer we don't get into too much of that ...
I also try to avoid getting my batteries into the waste stream. I keep them in a glass jar for recycling.

Yes and dogs or kids can eat them and get very sick, dangerous stuff those batteries.. cheers! Have a great week!
