According to the thing that appears at the top of my HIVE thingo on peakd, I've only got 25% of the HP that I've "earned" during my time here.
That's because I've powered down in the past to buy things like Splinterlands cards, or have moved funds to other HIVE related projects.
But also, I've powered down to get new bits and pieces that have continued to allow me to create stuff to publish on HIVE.
I don't feel guilty about those purchases. I won't feel guilty.
If someone magically says "anyone with a KE less than x never gets any upvotes", will it stop me from creating? No. Will it stop me from ever buying any HIVE ever again? You betcha.
Pay to play isn't cool, particularly for a platform like hive which is supposed to be censorship resistant. When things don't have votes, they don't get seen on HIVE.
I don't generally go looking at what people do with their earnings. Some really need the money. If they engage well and are doing good stuff then they may get a vote from me. A simple number cannot tell you much. The standard rep can be misleading too.
I almost never check someone's wallet unless they mention something specific worth looking at. Other than that, this is basically a mastodon alternative I contribute more to than mastodon public services. With more crypto, of which I like to spend on hive-engine and other things. Idk, I've put in a lot an taken out a lot, ish, small compared to many others. But always for a need or to support another project. I don't know, I thought the point was to use it to keep the economy going right? ^>^
Not to mention developing apps, tools, etc for the ecosystem... That is not taken into account when folks like me had to pay out a bunch of rewards to build these due to the fact that I am not cool enough to be funded by the DHF for the work I have done for the ecosystem.
