The points you bring up here, brings to mind the fact that I sometimes wonder if it is even possible to be a moral and just person if you're voting in America in 2023.
And I'm honestly only being a little bit facetious!
It becomes time for an election, and you look at the ballot and here are your choices (figuratively speaking): In the blue corner you have Lucifer and in the red corner you have Satan, pick carefully! Oh, and if you choose to abstain, you're failing to do your civic duty! Lesser of two evils, indeed!
I mostly will book just locally these days. I try to find candidates that most overlap with my value set and vote independently of party lines. If this whole democracy thing truly works in any way at all, we have to put our faith in electing somebody who gets to exert influence up the chain. At least I keep telling myself that!
So true!
In reality, your choice boils down to participating in a charade that validates universal insanity, or abstaining from the same...
This is wisdom. The real action is at a local level. There is a limit beyond which a nation state is powerless; while they can temporarily focus their frightening power on one or two localities to "make an example," if there is persistent local refusal to accept tyranny, the state at large cannot be everywhere at once.
So fine to hear from you, my old friend! Thanks for showing up.
😄😇😉
