Not Venice.
I recently came across a video about the controversy surrounding the construction of Venice which was allegedly built on millions of larch piles that hold the buildings in the water.
Personally this is a big mystery to me, since I have seen many times how groundwater under our city rises and floods not only the pits under future buildings but even shallow trenches under road construction.
Probably in such moments it is logical to think about what exactly to build, a road along which wheeled transport will move or it is more economically profitable to dig canals and run gantry along them like in Venice lol.
