Indulge in the delightful experience of classic French waffles, or "gaufres," known for their crispy exterior and soft, fluffy interior. Perfect for any occasion, these waffles can elevate your dessert game at Mardi Gras or simply serve as a delectable sweet snack any day of the year.

Ingredients

🌾 500 grams flour
🥛 8 deciliters 800 ml milk
🥚 5 whole eggs
🧈 150 to 200 grams butter, melted and kept lukewarm
🍬 30 to 60 grams sugar
🍶 1 sachet Alsa baking powder "levure chimique"
🍦 1 sachet Alsa vanilla sugar "sucre vanillé des îles"


Instructions

1- Combine Dry Ingredients:

  • In a large stainless steel mixing bowl, place 500 grams of flour and create a well in the center.

2- Add Eggs:

  • Crack the 5 eggs into the well.
  • Using a metal whisk, combine the eggs with some of the surrounding flour, forming a thick, smooth paste.

3- Incorporate Milk (First Half):

  • Gradually add about half 4 dl of the milk.
  • Whisk continuously to loosen the batter and dissolve lumps.

4- Incorporate Remaining Milk:

  • Add the remaining milk 4 dl.
  • Continue whisking until the batter is smooth.

5- Add Sweeteners and Leavening:

  • Mix in 30-60 grams of sugar.
  • Add one sachet of Alsa vanilla sugar and one sachet of Alsa baking powder.

6- Add Melted Butter:

  • Incorporate the melted butter.
  • Whisk until the batter is smooth and consistent.

7- Rest the Batter:

  • Cover with plastic wrap.
  • Refrigerate the batter for 1 to 3 hours.

8- Prepare for Cooking:

  • Post-resting, give the batter a quick whisk.

9- Preheat Waffle Maker:

  • Heat the KRUPS waffle maker until ready.

10- Grease Waffle Maker:
- Lightly oil the plates with butter.

11- Pour Batter:
- Use a ladle to pour batter onto the hot plates, filling the indentations.

12- Cook Waffles:
- Close and, if using a rotating model, flip the waffle maker.
- Cook for 3-4 minutes until golden and crispy.

13- Ensure Even Cooking:
- Flip periodically for uniform cooking.

14- Remove and Cool:
- Use a thin spatula or knife to lift the waffles onto a metal cooling rack.
