Ingredients

🥩 600 g Beef Rump
🧈 50 g Butter 80% fat
🥔 800 g Potatoes (approx. 4 pieces)
🧅 400 g Yellow Onion (approx. 4 pieces)
🌿 4 g Thyme 1 tsp, dried
🌿 4 g Bay Leaf 4 pieces
🧂 12 g Salt 2 tsp
🌶️ 12 g Black Pepper 2 tsp, ground
🧊 10 g Bouillon Cube Beef
💧 200 g Water 2 dl
🍺 330 g Beer - Porter, Brand: S:t Eriks Bryggeri


Instructions

1- Preparation:

  • Peel and thinly slice the potatoes into uniform rounds.
  • Peel and thinly slice the onions into rings.
  • Cut the beef rump into 1-inch thick pieces.

2- Brown the Beef:

  • Heat 25 g of butter in a frying pan over medium-high heat.
  • Sear the beef pieces in batches until browned on all sides.
  • Remove from the pan and set aside.

3- Sauté the Onions:

  • Add the remaining 25 g of butter to the pan.
  • Sauté the onions until they are soft and lightly golden brown.

4- Layer Ingredients in Slow Cooker:

  • Start with a layer of sliced potatoes at the bottom of the slow cooker.
  • Add a layer of sautéed onions.
  • Follow with a layer of browned beef.
  • Repeat these layers, ending with potatoes on top.
  • Pour any remaining pan juices over the layers.

5- Prepare the Broth:

  • Crumble the bouillon cube over the layered ingredients.
  • Pour the water and porter into the slow cooker.
  • Sprinkle thyme, salt, and pepper evenly.
  • Place bay leaves on top.

6- Cook:

  • Cover the slow cooker with its lid.
  • Set it to LOW and cook for 6 hours.

7- Serve:

  • Once cooking is complete, serve the Sjömansbiff hot.
  • Consider serving with a side of green beans.
