K-Pop Idol Sandwich: Cabbage Egg Delight

This delightful sandwich is a favorite among Korean idols, especially on the days they record music shows. It's simple yet packed with flavor, made with basic ingredients you likely already have in your kitchen. Prepare to surprise your taste buds with this unique combination of sweet and savory layers!

Ingredients

🍞 4 slices of sandwich bread

🍓 Strawberry jam (to taste)

🥬 140g (2 handfuls) cabbage, shredded

🧂 1.5g (0.5 tsp) salt

🥕 20g carrots, julienne

🍬 3g (0.3 tsp) sugar

🥄 30g (1.5 Tbsp) mayonnaise

🥚 2 boiled eggs, peeled and chopped

🦀 34g crab stick, chopped

🍬 3g (0.3 tsp) sugar

🥄 20g (1 Tbsp) mayonnaise

🌶️ Black pepper powder (to taste)


Instructions

1- Prepare the Cabbage Salad:

  • Place the shredded cabbage and carrots in a bowl. Sprinkle with salt and toss well. Let it sit for 10 minutes until the cabbage releases its moisture.

  • After 10 minutes, squeeze out excess water from the cabbage to prevent it from being overly salty.

  • Add sugar and mayonnaise to the cabbage and carrot mixture. Mix well until you achieve a crunchy cabbage salad. Set aside.

2- Prepare the Egg Salad:

  • In a separate bowl, combine chopped boiled eggs and chopped crab stick.

  • Add sugar, mayonnaise, and a pinch of black pepper powder. Stir well until evenly mixed. Set aside.

3- Assemble the Sandwich:

  • Take two slices of bread. On one slice, spread the entire cabbage salad evenly.

  • On the second slice, spread the egg salad evenly.

  • Spread a generous layer of strawberry jam on a third slice of bread.

  • Stack the slice with strawberry jam on top of the cabbage-covered slice, then place the egg salad-covered slice on top to close the sandwich.

  • Finally, add the last slice of bread to complete the double-layer sandwich.

4- Serving Tips:

  • For a better taste, wrap the sandwich in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1-2 hours. This allows the bread to become moist and flavors to meld.
