Between june 5 - 10, 1967, a brief war between isreal and its arab neigbhours namely; Egypy, Jordan and syria occured. Leading to Isreal's decisive victory and the capture of the old city of jeruselem, Golan Heights, West bank, Sinai Peninsula and the Gaza strip.

A series for events paved the way for the rather short war. some of which were some attacks against isreal by some Palestinian guerilla groups which prompted a strike on the village of Al-samu in the west-bank jordan and an air battle between the syrian airforce and that of the isreal, which ended in the loss of six syrian MiG fighter jets. the situation was further worsened by a false soviet intelligence that indicated that isreal was preparing a campaign against syria, this of-course heightened the tension between israel and its arab neighbours. Egypt soon joined the action by demonstrating its support for syria on 14th may, 1967 by stationing her forces on the sinai and subsequent removal of the United Nations Emergence Forces (UNEF) from the same location. on the 22nd may, egypt closed the Gulf of Aqaba to israeli shipping. hence forming and effective blockade of the port of Elat in israel.
In response to the mobilization by its neighbors, Isreal lunched a sudden and preemptive air strike that destroyed about 90% of the Egyptian air force. A similar strike also crippled the syrian air force. Without a cover, the land army was vulnerable to the onslaught from the air.
Within Three days, the israeli army has achieved an overwhelming victory on the ground and has captured form Sinai peninsula to the suez canal . Jordan on the other hand, etching for a piece of the action started shelling west Jerusalem, Flaunting the israeli warning to keep out of the fight. On 7th june Jordan got its fill of the fight by facing a crushing defeat as isreal pushed them back and took over control of the old city of Jerusalem.

The UN security council call for a cease fire on 7th june, Israel accepted that same day, Egypt accepted the next day but not Syria. Syria continued shelling Northern israel , on 9th june, Israel launched an attack and crushed the fortification, capturing the Golan Heights after a day of heavy fighting. Syria accepted the cease fire on 10th june.

Egypt 11,000 deaths
Jordan 6,000 deaths
Syria 1000 deaths
Israel 700 deaths
