I think I did a 'proper' install of Brave. I have found snaps cause me issues as the apps can only access files in my home folders and that doesn't work for how I set things up. Plus snaps start slower. Switching to Firefox would involve setting up a lot of stuff I need. It sounds like this is being worked on anyway.

Yeah. Im not a fan of snaps. I like the flatpaks. They seem easier to control the permissions. But I prefer the good old debs personally.
I am surprised though that I'm using Ubuntu 23.04 and only left the Firefox snap installed. Everything else is Flatpak and deb. And it's surprisingly smooth for not being a long term support release. Lol.
My favorite is still Pop!_OS though. I like KDE but it gives me too many knobs and buttons to push. I tend to break things when I play around with those.

I don't mess too much with settings. I find the defaults are okay.

They probably are for me too.

But I like to play with stuff too much and cant help it. I'm that guy.
