Looks like a lot of fun, except the sweltering in the sleeping bag part. Only thing worse, doing it on a beach, with sand everywhere. I hope you are on some sort of platform, off the beach.
I can certainly relate to the whole tradition thing, my friends used to give me grief for driving the same way across town every time. Maybe that's not quite the same.
