A Lovely Evening Walk at Clark Pampanga Picnic Ground

This afternoon, after a long day of tending to errands and organizing inside the house, I finally had the chance to head out for my routine walk at Clark Pampanga Picnic Ground. My husband and I set out around 5 PM, just as the sun was starting to soften.

It is the start of summer and dry season here so late afternoon is a safe bet to walk outside. There’s something so calming about this time of day, especially with the breeze picking up making the walking experience so refreshing.

We’ve been trying to make these walks a regular habit, and today felt like a small accomplishment. By the time we were done, I checked my tracker and saw I’d managed 5,303 steps and covered 3.3 km. My legs were a bit tired and knees sore LOL from running around earlier in the day, but the fresh air and open space made every step worth it.

The picnic ground has wide paths and patches of grass stretching out toward the horizon. It’s the kind of place that makes you slow down and breathe a little deeper.

As we walked farther from the picnic ground, we passed by El Kabayo, the horseback riding park nearby. I was curious to see the sight of horses trotting in the distance, but today we just kept to our walking.

Maybe one of these days we’ll stop by and try a ride, though I’m not sure I’d be brave enough to get on a horse just yet a selfie maybe? For now, I was happy to keep my feet on the ground and enjoy the scenery.

The best surprise of the evening came when we spotted some friends near one of the shaded areas. They waved us over, and we ended up chatting for a while, laughing about little things and catching up on what’s been happening. It’s always a treat to run into familiar faces in such a peaceful setting it made the walk feel even more special. We shared stories about our day, and I couldn’t help but feel grateful for these simple moments.

While we were walking along one of the paths near the road, I noticed a little cactus growing right by the edge of the sidewalk. Its flat, green pads were reaching out in all directions, and the base looked a bit weathered, like it had been there for a while, quietly thriving despite the odds. I pointed it out to my husband, and we stopped for a moment to admire it. There’s something so charming about these resilient plants, isn’t there? It reminded me of how nature always finds a way, even in the most unexpected places.

I’m already looking forward to coming back to the picnic ground soon maybe tomorrow, if the weather holds up. There’s always something new to notice here, and I’m hoping to keep up this walking routine with my husband. It’s these little outings that make the days feel so full.
