It Happened: Minnesota Legalizes Cannabis for Adult Use

Minnesota has done it. I wrote previously about Minnesota’s journey to legalizing cannabis for adult-recreational usage, and it is official.

On Tuesday, the governor of Minnesota signed the bill into law that has enabled adults to purchase and use cannabis recreationally. Tim Walz was vocally supportive of cannabis legalization, and he was made his state the 23rd in the nation to legalize cannabis recreationally. Some 37-states have legalized and regulated cannabis for medical usage.

Cannabis legalization has a growing precedent for operational and supply-chain management and legal management. The legal framework established in Minnesota is similar to other states including New York with a management of cannabis office established and quantities of cannabis adults can have.

Federally, cannabis is still illegal. More and more states are using state’s rights found in the 14th Amendment of the Constitution to legalize cannabis within their borders. In America, state’s rights are hugely influential during times of prohibition and have forced change in the past. The American voter is actively electing representatives who support cannabis legalization and decriminalization.

Decriminization is an essential aspect of the wide scale legalization of cannabis. States that have legalized cannabis possession and usage for adults have often expunged cannabis-crime records and allow possession of cannabis to a degree.
