Florida, man: Why 2020 legalization failed in the Sunshine State
Recreational cannabis looked like a sure bet on the 2020 ballot. Then it went up in smoke. WTF happened?
Quote from Leafly above,
In short, in late 2019 The state of Florida had two very viable and ready to go Legalization campaigns, jumping into mid-January both of these two initiatives where gone, dead finito! Why? Below is my understanding of the situation.
Like in the Sunny State of California they used the slogan Make it Legal Florida sounds a bit like Make America Great again type of vibe. The other initiative the reason for its downfall and support was due to the lack of funding in late 2019, so that went bust.
How come not enough Money was put into it?
Is it not Florida? The retirement state? You would think the older generation would understand the benefits of Cannabis!! No? Or Am I being too over the top?
Greed
So by gathering some thoughts, it is still illegal to grow your own Cannabis in the state of Florida and a big factor comes down to Money and Companies and interest from these companies. The latest initiative was due to it being attracted to more of the business side rather than the individual one big factor is it did not allow for home growers so it went bust as well.
I am pretty sure they want legalization just like in California to use it without state restrictions and allow you to grow your own dang medicine... Maybe next time Florida adds some incentives for the regular folk. You know the ones that need it from all the government politics.
Trump derangement syndrome clearly has harmed cannabis legalization wow, as a Canadian I am not impressed the the cry baby politics over words going on south of the 49th.
Yay!
