Lawmaker In Minnesota Wants Cannabis Patients To Have Gun Freedom

in #weedcash3 years ago

For thousands of cannabis patients in Minnesota who are using cannabis for medicinal purposes, it has a negative impact in infringing their ability to protect themselves and their families.

This is because cannabis patients cannot use a firearm and obtain the proper permit for it, because cannabis is still included in the Schedule 1 list with the federal government.

"The bill I am proposing would make medical cannabis a Schedule 2 drug — legal with a prescription but yet allowing you to renew your permit to carry and hunt with a firearm if you so choose,” - State Rep. R Hamilton, R-Mountain Lake

They say that doing this would help to get the attention of Washington, adding to the wave of change that other states have already pushed forward with. If enough change is made, perhaps one day it might prompt change at the federal level, even though this is expected to come sometime soon.

People who want to use cannabis for their pain or dozens of other ailments, don't want to have to sacrifice that in favor of protecting themselves or being able to hunt etc. And they shouldn't have to, both are natural rights that should be protected.

This is an issue that impacts not only thousands in Minnesota but many medicinal cannabis patients all around the country. The ATF has previously reaffirmed its stance that medicinal cannabis users cannot be gun owners because of the federal restrictions on cannabis.
