Packing on the pounds

Losing pounds-2.jpg

I put on my favourite pair of jeans today because I always feel comfortable in them and they look sleek and nice on me. Only today, they didn't. I had to jump around a little bit to get them on and while they still made my bum look fantastic, I didn't quite feel like I was doing them justice.

Is it really a thing that happens when you hit middle age? That your metabolism suddenly stalls out and you start realising that maybe having two spoons of sugar in your coffee is packing on the pounds around your tummy?

Perhaps it's that I've not been out running or walking much in the last while because I've been so busy playing life logistics and tying up loose ends. Perhaps it's that my stress levels don't make me lose weight like they used to. Whatever it is, I"m not particularly happy with it.

I do indulge in sweet things because I love sugary stuff. I know how bad it is for me, but so are so many other things and I like there to be some balance in life. I generally eat very healthy food for meals but I love carbs and I know that I'm totally to blame for the fact that my jeans are a little bit tighter than I would like. At least I'm not in denial about it.

You've heard me talking about amazing cheesecake, cupcakes and how much I love coffee, yet I hardly ever drink soft drinks, I very seldom actually eat dessert after supper and I haven't eaten chocolate in well over three months even though I totally love the stuff. So perhaps it's got more to do with the amount of pasta I consume. I reckon I've got between 5 and 8 kgs to lose around my midriff.

So I'm going to have to formulate a game plan to get more active and make sure that I can lose the pounds I've added in the last little while. I just want to feel comfortable in my clothing and this certainly ain't it!

I used to walk a fair amount but with the amount of work and other life stuff that's been going on, it's been pushed further and further down the priorities list and chasing after customers doesn't seem to cut it as a weightloss method.

So why am I putting in these horribly delicious looking photos? Well I figured that I'd tease myself as much as you. I didn't buy any of these and I've been really good today with no carbs. I guess it all just comes down to self discipline and the want to succeed. It's a mind over matter thing for me.

While I'll be pretty strict with myself, I'm definitely leaving open the idea of cheat days because gee, if you can't spoil yourself sometimes, then what's the point right?

How do you maintain your weight at the optimal level for yourself or are you struggling the same way I am? Let me know in the comments.

I had a very active job at one time, so I got into the habit of just eating what I want xD
Then I got another job, not an active and kept it up xD

Back to having a active job, but I do need to get back down a bit, not much

I'm glad you're back to an active job, how freaking difficult is it to change the habits thought right? I've been struggling but I'm sure we can both make it happen.

Fcuking donuts though! Wouldn't mind having one right now.

Ye its hard :D

I am having trouble not eating some banana bread cake we have in the store I work at xD

I had the same shock one day a few years ago. Had to lie back down on the bed and tried to wiggle myself into my favourite pair of jeans but to no avail. Bad jeans!! Had to bin them in the end!!!

My solution? Don't wear tight fit clothes so I can continue eating my favourite cakes and dessert 😋

I like the way you think. Maybe I should consider doing the same lol. I can just imagine your adject shock when you were wiggling on the bed trying to get them on, I felt just like that jumping around like a jack in the box. I do so love cakes and sweet stuff, I doubt I'll be able to give it up completely, so your idea is not a bad one 😁

You can do it! Just don't walk past this store on day three. And if you aren't going keto I highly recommend having an "eat day" once or twice a week. It fuels will-power.

Great advice to avoid the window shopping of the delicatessen kind. I don't like diets, so will probably just take a lot of the bad stuff out of my general eating and then I definitely need to start walking or running. Once I move it should be better because I'll have an accountability partner in that regard to keep each other in check.

Thanks for coming by Anne, it's always lovely to hear from you. Hope you and the crows are awesome.

You just broke my heart with these photos 😂😂😂😂❤️

Lol I broke my own heart looking at them and taking pictures but not buying any. It sucks but this is the sacrifice I have to make 😆

In my city we don’t have these , because is a small city they do cakes but not like these.
That’s why 😂😂❤️

My weight maintenance is simple and messed up. One day you see me finish the whole bowl, and the next I'll probably starve myself to death. 😂

I do that exact same thing, it's apparently really bad because your metabolism doesn't know how to handle it, but sometimes we just have to do it our way and deal with it 😅

Yeah, I really need to get my diet fixed, same goes for my sleep schedule. 😬
