I am very proud to be apart of this new community. I believe Steemit is the very start of the road of big changes in the way we use social media. The introduction and use of crypto currencies to the average individual/social media user, not only tech whizzes and experts. We are surely going to be seeing the full ability to live our daily lives based on these currencies, which is going to change our economy dramatically (This may be a good thing or bad). In this age of technology, everything is digital. We are slowly walking into a whole new world and a whole new outlook on things and what we value. Especially in the realms of social media.
Steemit seems to be a rather appreciative to its active users, allowing the user to be rewarded for their activities within the community. This new kind of respect seems a lot more appealing and mature the compared to that of youtube, where they are taking from the users. Even as a viewer on Youtube you are subjected to watching endless ads on videos which is slowly replacing the old interface of entertainment, TV. TV was full of advertising and manipulation (not to mention the brain washing). The introduction of Youtube allowed us to break free from those set programs and advertising. It allowed freedom, creative and informative content uploaded by regular people for regular people. Since the take over of adverts/monetisation the content on Youtube has become selfish, lacks that natural passion and is a playground of advertising, paid promotions and of course, restricting content that doesn't fit their new criteria of 'suitable content'. We are seeing the death of free speech/thought, creativity and genuine content.
With social media communities such as Steemit, a user is respected and the community is free to express opinions, create true content and just feel un-restricted from the box we've slowly been put into on other social media platforms thus far.
I believe this is the start of new times ahead and excited to see what changes will be growing from these brilliant platforms.
