First of all we must agree with the fact that non of the culture in the world is good or bad, it’s all about our own perception and vision how do we like to see them. A culture having lots of negative can be the best suited culture what the people owing that can have. But some of the things which we can extract while looking our own culture as well as the western culture in a single throw.
First of all let’s see the POSITIVES of western culture
THE AGE OF SWEET SIXTEEN: In western culture the age of sixteen is the threshold for the parents to consider their child as having capabilities to sustain and nourish their life on their own. It’s good for the future of children as it make them to learn the real lesson of life, how to represent themselves on the broad and real life stage of their own. In single word it boosts their self-dependence
JOB AN INTEGRATED PART OF LIFESTYLE: The people from west is open minded to the idea of working to any level which assures their livelihood. But here in India in fact to perform our own daily works there used to particular kind of employed people.
POLITENESS: The people from west are very polite in their everyday life. For any fault/gratitude/excuse they have three magical words THANKS, SORRY & PLEASE.
JUDGEMENT: The people from west usually don’t judge one’s life on the basis of their perceptions which may be influenced cause of CASTE/SEX/RACES, which helps the society to make a control over the riots which are generally the bi-product of these discrimination.
But as we know nothing is purely perfect on this planet which can be considered as Ideal. So if there is positive things then there must be some negative things also. So the negative what we can see in western culture is as:
DIVORCE THE SPOILER OF MARRIED LIFE: As per survey the average rate of DIVORCE in west is 40% that of India. May be it depicts the fact of self independence or awareness to one’s particular rights. But in point of view MARRIAGE is some kind of sacred relationship what one can have in their whole life.
DRESSING SENSE: The present mentality is as “the more you expose, the more modern you are”. But being modern doesn’t always mean that you just ignore your moral values. As naturally we the people are gifted with an attraction towards opposite sex, which sometimes greatly affect our sense in a negative way. This can be understand by an illustration as there is no gathering of sweet-attracted insects like ants to some sweet if it is well covered with plastic. But if just leave it uncovered we see that there is gathering of insects.
GUARDIANSHIP: There is some lack of guardianship in western culture in my point of view. As it may western parents think that their children attain enough caliber to take their own life decisions or it may be children’s ignorance to their parents role on their life decision. But a better guidance is very important in someone’s better future. And sometimes this lack of guardianship cause teens to be trapped in a condition of DEPRESSION AND FRUSTRATION.
DRUG ADDICTION: According to 2015 world drug report the scale of drug addicted teens from western countries were found leading with a great margin. This is the serious issue at present. But to represent oneself in modern era teens are greatly attracted toward drug.
That’s all about some of the points regarding The negatives/positives of western culture.
I think the lower divorce rate in India is not due to more succesful marriages but because of marriage is used to create strategic alliances between families and also because of the lower woman rights in that region. So it is not positive at all in my opnion.
