Recently the district court in Bad Hersfeld, a town in Hesse, came to a conclusion. WhatsApp is illegal now!
Why it is illegal? Because all contact data will be sent to the WhatsApp servers every time you refresh your list, the primary idea of WhatsApp is illegal IN GERMANY.
In Germany are phone numbers private identification utilities. By allowing WhatsApp to store them in the US you violate rights of personality. Users could only get "caught" if other users like friends would report them.
But as I said: this counts only for germany. I'm not sure how it looks like in other countries!
I think that WhatsApp will change some things that has to do with the synchronisation of the contact list. The best idea would be to add some aspects to the terms of use and to only store the phone numbers that are connected to WhatsApp so that they automatically delete all numbers that hasn't agreed the terms of use.
What do you think of it?

Thank you. It seems like it would be difficult for them to regulate. I thought the same thing when they recently said that live streamers will need a broadcasting license to stream form Germany which costs 1500€. This seems like an equally ridiculous law.
yeah, the law is a bit bizarre sometimes....for example it isn´t allowed to own drugs but taking drugs isn´t illegal in Germany :D
