THE WILD-MAN'S WILD FRIENDS VIDEO SERIES - EPISODE 46 – WOOD FROG

in #wild-man7 years ago

This is one of my favorite frogs!

The Wood Frog (Rana sylvatica) is a crazy-cool little frog. I think that I may like them most because of their raccoon-like mask over their eyes.

Like so many other frogs, the Wood Frog is a harmless little bug-eater that plays a crucial role in the ecosystem. Unfortunately, these amphibians are some of the first to disappear when an ecosystem becomes polluted. Since amphibians like frogs have such permeable skin, they can easily soak up chemical and other pollutants.

Reaching a maximum size of less than three inches, these brown or tan frogs can be found in North American from Alaska and Canada all the way to the North Eastern United States. For more info on this wild creature, check out the video below.

The information is the video is original but I did have a quick refresher from this source.

We've got some frogs like this in my backyard. I'm always worried about actually stepping on one cuz they campflauge into the grass.

They sure can blend in well. Thanks for the real comment! I appreciate it!

You are very brave papa, I am amazed at you

These are only tiny frogs that can hop, and they do nothing worse. No bravery is required.

Indeed it is not poisonous papa. I am from Indonesia and do not understand English. I only understand a little bit

Usually papa hunting venomous animals using what ?. What just use empty hand?.

Yes, mostly I just use my hands.... maybe a stick sometimes too.

Have you ever felt in the snake stakes?

I am not sure what that means.

i mean, have you ever been bitten by a snake

thx for sharing

Aww he's so adorable.

buena fotos me gusto!!

Hey, @papa-pepper! What a little cutie. I just love any animal that has a mask. Pretty cool that they swap water out of their organs so that they can survive winter. Mother nature sure is incredible!

They certainly were designed with incredible capabilities! That's for sure!

Interesting video. You are very brave!

Thanks for sharing

Are there frogs that can be kept as pets?

Yes there are, but not so much with this species.

nice, caught one of these when I was mowing the lawn the other day, put him in my garden so he could eat the bugs that are eating my vegetables :)

That is a very good idea. I like having a local "pest control" in my garden too!

So finally an another episode of my favourite series "wild man's wild Friends" the frog is looks like wood and it's very tiny also, how did you catch him @papa-pepper

I saw him in the woods, and came to capture him.

My first time checking out the Wild Man's wild Friends. Thanks for sharing! I would have liked to heard this particular species croak in the video, but we can't have everything.

My wife grew up in Puerto Rico, so her favorite frog, and by way of not having a favorite frog before meeting her, now my favorite frog, is the El Coqui. We go to sleep every night with a sound machine making the Coqui noise for us like we are living in the middle of the island. I do admit, it is quite relaxing.

Looking forward to checking out more of your content @papa-pepper! Thanks for all you do here!

Thanks for making it over. Nice to meet you!

I was only in Puerto Rico for a few hours so far this life, but I have heard of El Coqui before.

What kind of frog is that?

This frog has a resemblance of our local frog which is called "bak-bak". The term is only for Visayan people of the Philippines.

Very interesting. Thanks @asbonclz!

You're welcome @papa-pepper :)

Nice frog! I am not familiar with this species but looks like it will make a great pet. Thanks for sharing...

It is a very interesting wild creature that I have enjoyed all life long, but I never tried keeping one as a pet. I suppose it would make a good pet, but we like to leave wild animals in the wild.

We got those little buggers here also. They are quick and would never sit on your hand like that. Hard to catch for sure. Love these posts of yours. Keep em coming sir!
