Do not think it hard to say "I AM SORRY"

So many times we really do not see any need to say "I AM SORRY". And some other times, even if we see the need to do so, something of the ego inside if us simply rebels. Consequently, we become defensive and reactive. This sort of attitude, quite often has led to a lot of difficulties and complications in our lives and relationships.

Here what our Lord said, "... If you're offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift. Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still with him on the way, or he may hand you over to the judge, and the judge hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison: I tell you the truth, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny" (Mathew 5:23-26).

That came from our Lord Himself to members of the household of faith. Will one with the kind of heart that will never say "I AM (SINCERELY) SORRY be able to heed this great counsel? Indeed from casual observation, very few people are able or willing to heed this counsel of our Lord.

Consequently, many are today being thrown into the prison of difficulties, frustration, disease or even death in the hands of the officer who in this counsel of Christ represents the implementer of the punishment handed down by the judge to the one so indicted. Saul in the Bible is one clear example of this. He's being defensive rather than to apologize in repentance caused him the kingdom of Israel, sent him into the prison of torments, until his eventual death. The story is in 1Samuel 15:13-34; 16:14.

Obviously, being defensive and offensive will not help any of us. We must put on a humble spirit to be able to apologize to the other person. This sustains relationships and makes the Christian life more beautiful. Once we do it the first time, it becomes much easier to do it the second, third and fourth time, until it becomes part of our lives.

Ability to say SORRY when you're wrong shows MATURITY (Pst. Henry Young).
