Hello Everyone we are so happy to present you our Witness Blog #1
This Witness blog will be dedicated to explaining what it means to be a Witness and what it means to Poetsunited.
We hope that this will give an average user an understanding of what takes to be a witness. We will also show what efforts and costs are involved in running and most importantly sustaining it online almost 100% of the time in order not to miss those precious blocks ...
We will be showing you what it takes to run a witness-server, both cost-wise and efforts and, of course, keeping the server up at all times to catch those precious blocks!
So what we actually know for now is that our witness-server is running, thanks to an IT specialist. We are going to be on a steep learning curve here. Because there is really not a lot of documentation on the witness matter and, right now I believe that is one of the biggest flaws in the system itself.
We will try to explain what happens when you start a witness-server and the pros and cons of it. We hope that this will help clarify why witnesses are so important and why it is important to use those witness votes! We all know there is a huge percentage of Steemit users that have not even cast one vote!
But lets get to the interesting part. Since we have our server running we are eligible to be voted on now, for witness. We have made some progress and already hold the 262nd position in the ranking and we are 131st place in the active ranking as soon as we receive our first block. We have no idea when that will happen but you can be sure we will make a post about it :) We are curious of the blocks and if we can eat them :)
We want to thank everyone that has given his vote so far and especially @enginewitty who is another Witness supporting Poets United. Huge thanks to him. Go and vote for him as well for witness.
So, each witness is supporting the blockchain, because no witnessess means no steemit! But is that enough, just running a server? ... Steemit does not think so, they believe each witness is supposed to add some value to the network. If only to protect his own investments and time that he spent running that witness server. It will be an awesome place for sure... We expect to have it running in less than a month but it is about coding so we cannot be certain about a date. We are working on it...
- By having many social accounts we are spreading the word about steemit and the opportunities for poets around the world who are not familiar with crypto-currencies
