You have 30 Votes to use to vote on your witnesses, use them.
Steemit is run by all users but the back bone of steemit is held intact by your witnesses if you do not know what a witness is chances are you have not voted for any, which is a shame and you should go and cast your votes.
Below is a part of a post I made a couple of days back, about cleaning up your witness votes.
Who is being considered a Dead Witness?
The list you can see above shows all Witnesses placed from 81 - 100 in the current Ranking. As you might recognize a lot of them are actually crossed out, which means that their Witness Servers are currently not running.
Of course it might just be due to some maintenance or other reasons, that they had to go offline for some time. In order to get to know whether this might be the case you can have a look into the last column, which shows the Version of the Steem Blockchain they are running. Crossed out Witnesses showing a Version 13, 14 or 16 can thereby definitely be considered as inactive and might get called "Dead Witnesses".
Remove your votes from the Dead!
In total there are currently 20 inactive Witnesses in the Top 100 with 15 definitely to be considered as Dead Witnesses. So basically this means many Steemians are still voting for inactive Witness accounts or to see it from another angle, didn´t update their Witness votes at all during the last months.
Therefore please consider to take a look on your current votes, whether they include some of those Dead Witnesses and remove them respectively. Rather give your vote to someone, who is active, running on the latest Version and really engaged into the Steemit Community. So maybe you´d like to consider to vote for someone like me, who´s running Community Projects like @bellyrub or @bellyrubbank while cleaning up your Witness Votes :)

And, to your point regarding dead witnesses, I completely agree with you. Steemit users should use their witness voting power judiciously and I'm glad I found one more witness that I have no hesitation to give my vote. Voted you for witness 👍

Ok, so this post made me think a lot more about Steemit witnesses and how much the whole Steem Blockchain depends upon them.
Having not made any votes for these very essential tech savvy humans, I feel it's time to take a step into voting for witnesses, so here goes...... @zeartul gets my first witness vote, I now have 29 more votes to indicate my preferred witnesses.
Every one of us users must vote to keep the whole system working properly. Do some research before you cast your votes....but vote you must.
You got an upvote & resteem for me because you definitely deserve consideration by users to be voted as a witness due to your involvement.

I had just made my first witness votes yesterday. Thank you for creating the bellyrub bot and building up the community. I gave you a vote. I also voted for @jesta, @aggroed, @good-karma, and @pharesim because I've seen them doing similar things to help Steemit succeed.
My question is who else should I vote for? The other witnesses in the top 50 are completely unknown to me.
