@WomenEmpowerment received another donation of 15 SBD recently from #ADollarADay humanitarian project run by @pennsif. The project is helping charities and personal initiatives to on steemit with help of many generous donors on steemit.
Women Empowerment Project Background:
Women and girls at Ghashitula, Sylhet and nearby area often experienced domestic violence against women, which mostly can be seen in lower income families. When they are under parents' supervision or even after marriage they do not get rest from such violence. SDG5 target is crucially important to achieve to reduce such violence by empowering women and girls. Girls aged between 12 and 18 who are going to school because of household chores and financial problem can enhance their skill, education within the project. Their work will be marketed to local businesses. Such facilities will help them to get payment for their effort and contribute to their family income. Guardians will not take decision to give early marriage or girls can even show excuse against it.
27 November 2016: I ( @Azizbd ) collected data by visiting different slums. I was looking for girls and women who are unemployed and has desires to work with @WomenEmpowerment. Our first training class was held on 7 January 2017 with around 20 women.
We bought a sewing machine, sponsored by @r2cornell and @girlbeforemirror. We are also going to buy an overlock machine and we will use the donation received from #ADollarADay project.
We will need more fund to open a new shop. We will keep sharing our free classes of training we are offering to underprivileged women. Your support by upvotes will help us to raise fund for the development of the venture.
Our training class for Ramadan has some changes. We are arranging classes earlier. As women need to cook for their family members, we want to let them go so they can cook for family and take Ifter with their beloved family members.
I will keep communication with all of you to share update and if anything new going on here. Women Empowerment will able to take custom orders from you. As soon as our resource and skilled manpower is ready, we will also make clothes and many necessary things for steemians and will sell them on steemit.
