How the Women Are Working At Women Empowerment Part-8

in #women6 years ago

Dear Supporters,

Gender equality is a persistent challenge for developing country like Bangladesh. With more than 163 million population, the country faces gender discrimination, sexual abuse, child marriage, domestic violence and so on. Women are neglected and get no say over men decisions in most families. @WomenEmpowerment was founded by Mohammed Abdul Aziz @azizbd to empower some women in slum area so they can access free training and get paid for their work.

The challenge we face is to keep the training continues with paid trainers. We also need to open a new shop to continue the training program as well as grow the social business idea. We are sharing the venture from my personal blog as well as from the official account for gaining attention. As the founder, I also feel happy to run the idea from my personal investment too. But as it is focus on community development, every little helps counts.

We also donated $31.25 to Mahmuda for her educational expenses.

We also donated $6.25 to Ashnara for her medical expenses. Though we don't want to be a charity organization but we feel happy to support them when it is important.

@WomenEmpowerment started its journey on 7 January 2017 by focusing on Sustainable Development Goal 5 which is "Gender Equality and Women Empowerment ". The social venture aim is to train underprivileged women in slum areas and let them work with venture long term as employees.

The development of the venture will help to create employment for these women. We already bought a sewing machine with help of steemians. The machine helps them to get training more effectively.

How I am inspired to help the women ?

I @azizbd live an area surrounded by slums and personally experienced how the women are treated and face domestic violence in slums. I used to go university through slums and often I saw women dominated by men and this is worse to explain. But that was not the only cause I wanted to help the women, as the founder of @ScholForSDG4 I had to communicate with mothers and learned them they have no jab but taking care of kids mostly.

I was thinking how I can help the women ? How the women can help their families financially and is it possible to use the human resource so mother can pay children educational expenses by working in this social venture.

At the end of 2016, I felt difficult situation when Al-Amin stopped to come @schoolforsdg4 . I determined myself to bring him school by communicating his family. But it was not possible as his family was so needy. I was helping his family. This story compelled me to take the initiative of @WomenEmpowerment more quickly. And 7 April, 2017 the @WomenEmpowerment started its journey.
