Do Not Use the Wordpress Steem Plugin, right now at least!!!

in #wordpress6 years ago (edited)

Just a quick heads up to all who may be excited to start publishing to Steemit and want to transfer existing content from a WordPress blog or post to Steemit and Wordpress at the same time:

Wordpress Steem plugin by @recrypto does not currently work as intended.

  1. It does NOT publish to Steemit at all.
  2. It constantly displays the Error message: "Please be reminded that there is a 5 minute cooldown when creating a Steem post in the Steem blockchain. 300 seconds left to do another post action."

From what I can tell, the plugin was working and very much loved by users but appears to have stopped working within the three weeks preceding the date this post was published.

Having investigated a little deeper and while considering writing a plugin for the purpose myself I soon discovered that there doesn't appear to be any official API functionality that facilitates posting programatically, which is a huge shame.

So hats off to @recrypto for trying. It would appear that it did work at one time, but it most definitely does not now. Maybe @recrypto could chime in and share some of the challenges faced while attempting to develop the plugin and what has caused the plugin to stop working recently.

Don't be disheartened however, Steemit is still young and we have a fantastic opportunity ahead. Just have to do it from Steemit to Wordpress instead... which I'll write a mini-guide for once I figure out the details.

Good day...
