Children in the workplace

Perhaps I'm just extra sensitive to it, but I feel like I'm seeing more and more childish behaviour in the people I engage with in large organisations.

I don't think it's a coincidence that the way some people are behaving in politics at a national and international level has the same feel. It's like people see that acting that way gets them what they want - power and influence and the chance to shape how things work around them. So of course they keep doing it.

And the consequences ripple through society and our organisations in the same way. I'm finding with my coaching clients that I'm most often dealing with people stuck in dysfunctional parent/child type relationships in their day to day work. It's exhausting for everyone. Some people desperately need to grow up.

I'm not that serious a person, but there can be a time and place where it's appropriate to be so. People do seem to be getting a bit infantile. I don't think they want to grow up.

I hope your clients can take advice on this.
