It’s good to be back here in the community again after 3 years.
A lot has been happening in my life over the past 3 years, so where should I start sharing my experiences?
Let me start with the day I went on vacation to the Philippines for the first time in my 4 years of working here in the UAE.
Before I share my memories from 2024, here’s a quick story.
I moved to Dubai after living in Abu Dhabi for 3 years. I didn’t have any relatives here—just the confidence to step out of my comfort zone.
Now, I’m working as a barista in an Australian cuisine restaurant.
This feeling really hits different—so many mixed emotions. I’m really excited to see my family again after so many years of struggles and being independent. I’ve gained so many learnings and experiences along the way.
It will also be my first time celebrating my birthday with them again. I’ll get to see my college friends, high school friends, childhood friends, and even friends from my elementary days.
Extra special. Really
The first person I saw outside the airport in the Philippines was my mother. She was crying, and I had to stop myself from crying too. We hugged each other, and the same thing happened with my two sisters.
I really missed being with them.
The first food I ate was Angel’s Burger and a footlong. On the way home, we were just talking about life. By the way, we also have two cute little dogs.
I ate a lot of food—my cravings were finally satisfied. We went to church and spent some time on the rooftop, where I found myself reflecting on how different our lives are now.
From living in a small house, we now have a three-story home. From having almost nothing, we can now buy the things we want. We’re not rich, but we can afford what we need and the things we’ve always wanted.
God is truly good. It’s true that He gives us struggles so we can grow stronger and handle hardships in the future. Just always pray and trust in Him.

Welcome back here! And talagang sinulit mo uwu sa Philippines ha, with a limited time parang ang hirap lalo with limited time and need to go back again there to work. And I am so jealous how brave you are ro work abroad, malayo sa family and always have this loneliness. But at least, the sacrifice gave you a lot too. I wish I can be brave as you. These days I've been thinking about working abroad but the question is, what kind of work, and can I really do it 😑. Anyways, are you in the UAE naba ulit? And whats the situation in there btw?
Hi Ate Ruffa! Yes po dami challenges sa life but nakayanan naman po labanan ang mental health hehe. I’ll say that we’re safe here in UAE. Thank to God 🙌🏻
