World News: Doomsday clock edges closer to our total destruction!

in #world6 years ago

So the group known as 'The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists' have very recently bumped their 'Doomsday Clock' ahead by 30 seconds. This clock represents how close they think the world is at any given point to complete and utter destruction. It is routinely adjusted to reflect how the world is getting along; based on politics, wars, tensions, and environmental stability.

The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists was founded by veterans of the Manhattan Project in 1947. Concerned about the consequences of their nuclear research, they produced the Doomsday Clock to depict our proximity to the apocalypse. Today the group is comprised of 15 Nobel prize winners.

As you can see from the chart above, the world has never been closer to 'midnight' since the inception of the clock. The group stated “the world is not only more dangerous now than it was a year ago; it is as threatening as it has been since World War II.” Recent issues with North Korea and the United States, coupled with failures to correct ongoing climate changes have landed us at 2 minutes to midnight.

Will be interesting to see where it goes from here. So on that note... 2 minutes away from our total destruction. Sleep well :)

Even total destruction can't kill Chuck Morris.

Damn right! Chuck Morris wears a doomsday clock as a wristwatch.
