Formerly, it was the seven major military regions, namely the Shenyang Military Region, which governed Heijiliao and Eastern Inner Mongolia. On the basis of the former Guangzhou Military Region, the Southern Military Region added Yunnan and Guizhou. The command and leadership of the Southern China Sea Fleet and other military services, while the western war zone was merged with the former Lanzhou and Chengdu Military Regions. Of course, Yunnan and nobles were excluded. Gansu, Ningxia, Qinghai, Xinjiang and other regions were added. The command and leadership of the Southern China Military Region included the Air Force and the Rocket Army.
The scope of the northern theatre has increased a little in the original Shenyang Military Region. It mainly governs Inner Mongolia, Shandong and Heijiliao. It is responsible for commanding and leading the Beihai Fleet and other arms. The Central Military Region has added Henan, Shaanxi and Hubei on the basis of the original Beijing Military Region.
