Hey everyone, first of all I would like to welcome you all to my new contribution and hope you had a positive start to the new week! Today I would like to share a new experience with you which I made on one of my trips and I am happy if you can learn new things.
The Buchheim Museum or Museum of Imagination is a more modern museum which is located in the village of Bernried at lake Starnberg and it's a museum which is located in the breathtaking Bavarian landscape and the uniwue thing is that the Museum is located directly on the lake. From the museum I had a great view of the lake and on the same day, I also walked to Höhenried castle which is located in the immediate vicinity of the museum and who should be in the museum, should not miss to connect both sights with each other. I have already visited this museum once in the past and since that time a lot has happened and the museum was rebuilt and was also closed for a few months and in addition to a diverse permanent exhibition, changing ones can also be seen here at regular intervals. I will attach pictures from my last visit as well as from the past to present the full diversity of the museum and in my eyes, it's a very special museum in which there is something for everyone. The museum was opened by the German artist Lothar-Günther Buchheim (1918 - 2007) who was known as a diverse artist and, in addition to his painting, was also busy writing books, producing films and he is also considered a passionate art collector and a huge part a of his collection is presented in the museum.
He already came from a family of artists and knew at a young age that he would take this path and his biography is really remarkable and it's definitely amazing how many works of art he has participated in and of course, his works have received numerous awards. The entrance is a bit more expensive and amounts to about 13€ but it must be taken into account here that various exhibitions are included in this fee and another huge factor is that it is a private museum in which the admission as a rule is always more expensive because more costs have to be borne itself when it comes to maintenance and the owner is a foundation which was named after Buchheim. The museum was founded in 2001 and the building is simply kept in a modern architecture and welcomes tens of thousands of visitors every year who come not only because of the museum and some visit this place to lie on the meadow next to the lake, to visit the park or the cafe which is located inside the museum and enjoys great popularity. In the park of the museum there are already some sculptures and a diverse nature to admire and directly in front of the museum, even an old helicopter awaits visitors which was originally used in the military field and was artfully painted by the german artist Won ABC.
Inside there are numerous rooms on different floors with different themes and in addition to the changing exhibitions, the permanent exhibition presents things that are associated with the art of Buchheim as an exhibition on the movie the boat in which he participated. During my visit last year there was also a diverse exhibition of international art as well as mythology and I was surprised how much was offered and I also visited the so-called laboratory of fantasy which is located on the basement. There is also something on offer for younger people here and regular courses take place where children can learn to paint and as I have noticed, the pictures are then presented in the museum and it can be said that there is something for young and old people. The changing exhibitions are often works of art by different artists as well as eras and a great focus is on expressionism and overall I would say that at least half a day should be planned for a visit, but of course this always depends on how much someone is interested in the exhibitions and how much is open, because during the reconstruction a large part was unfortunately not accessible.
After my visit to the museum, I walked to Höhenried Castle, which is only five minutes away from the museum and the path leads directly along Lake Starnberg and there are more opportunities to sit here and admire the clear water of the the lake. I can't write much about the castle and it's important to mention that it can only be seen from the outside and it mainly serves as a location for festivities and I think there is also the possibility to spend the night here but there is inside no museum which can be visited. I would have liked to visit it from the inside and after asking, I could learn that it is possible to make guided tours through the castle but at least ten people are needed for this, but also from the outside it was definitely worth the visit. The park of the castle is already decorated with various sculptures and if you should visit the museum, you should definitely take a short detour to the castle afterwards.
Many thanks for the visit and I hope you could learn something new about this interesting museum as well as castle! I captured these pictures with my Sony Alpha 6000 plus 55-210 mm lens.

If you will ask me, I really love the beauty of this art work
Good to know that you are also interested in art
A great museum, also very close to an incredible castle and only 5 minutes away. All of this, if we add the view of the lake, would be the perfect combination to spend a great day.
That’s true, it’s extremely diverse.

Thanks a lot as always
The colored helicopter is so strange!
What a shame the castle can't be visited, from outside looks great
Overall a variety of stuff in that museum
That’s true, it’s not everyday to see such an abstract work of art :) It doesn’t matter, as you said it’s great to see it from the outside.
Woow
Another beautiful museum showcase. You seem to have a good knack for museums and art. I had only been to a museum once when I was way younger and I didn’t even see as half of these kind of unique things. I love the golden horn like antique, it super cool
Hopefully I was able to motivate you to repeat this experience.
