Nestled in Zambia’s diverse landscape is Wilderness Lodge. This is where James and Sarah said, “I DO,” surrounded by family and friends who travelled to share their day with them. James and Sarah met in Australia. Their nuptials started with a pre-celebration in James’ hometown, with family and friends following them to Africa for the official ceremony.

Two Hearts Become One
The day arrived with the invigorating African sunshine illuminating the large estate of manicured gardens and historical indigenous trees. The view of the veld and distant hills and rivers created a picturesque backdrop.
As the wedding party arrived, they emanated excitement of being in a foreign land, acquainting themselves with new faces and reconnecting with old ties. Joy was all around, not only was their love between the newlyweds, but love shared between connections old and new was emanant.
We immersed ourselves in nature-inspired decor, with Proteas central to the theme and the bright orange Pin Cushions pulling the beautiful arrangements together. In African tradition, the Protea flower represents change and hope, creating a significant message for the guests.
As everyone dressed and prepared for the day, we witnessed solemn moments of reflection and jokes that calmed emotions. When the moment came for the bride to walk down the aisle, guests responded with happy tears, ear-to-ear smiles, and awe. From the emotion on the father-of-the-bride’s face as he saw his daughter in her enchanting gown to the ecstasy of the groom as Sarah walked towards him, the moment was inspiring and the perfect way to start a new family.
Vows were exchanged under a large, indigenous Acacia tree that secured their promises to one another. The prettiness of the bridesmaids and the love they have for Sarah was evident.
A timeless moment…
One of the best moments: The lovely bride glides down the aisle with her new hubby, celebratory cheers follow them, rose petals shower them, and, in an instant, a handful of petals are thrown over the bride, making Sarah laugh as she tries to remove the floral confetti from her cleavage.
After the ceremony, the new couple took a moment to catch their breathes and realise the significance of their nuptial. This while guests mingled and devoured delicious canapés. All in all, this was an amazing wedding.
From witnessing the hierarchy of the bride’s grandmother celebrating a significant reunion with her family to seeing the lovely bride in her sentimental white dress that her mother made, the love was all around, and it was REAL!
