The British Empire really paved the way for London to be a financial powerhouse. Sadly, like most western countries they deindustrialized and sent so many jobs overseas. We did the same thing here in the US. London truly is a very cool place, and will continue to be a huge financial center for centuries to come. Barring World War 3 of course!
