I'm back! My granddaughter was sweet and loving... a real treat. She's so appreciative of the smallest gesture. Alright, I'm done with that (feels like one of your conversations!).
I think it's very brave of you to take on a "new" form that has actually served philosophers well since ancient times. I like the themes you cover--chance of course, and the idea of where one person begins and another person ends. I can see your interest in Eastern philosophy peeping through. I also like your discussion about personality types
These individuals tend to be analytical, detail oriented, and are deep thinkers and feelers. They are introverted and try to avoid being singled out in a crowd.
A phlegmatic individual tends to be relaxed, peaceful, quiet, and easy-going. They are sympathetic and care about others
I see these two as reasonable descriptions of my major personality traits (except that I'm good at details in research and proofreading, but not in paperwork, i.e., filling in forms). However the rest of the descriptions in each category don't really fit. So I guess I'm a mongrel :)
Hello, Erika--so happy to see you experimenting. I do not have time right now to give your post the attention it deserves--anyone who experiments deserves attention. I am rushing to pick up my granddaughter (!). Later tonight I will relax with your post. And then read up on some ants, I think. Have the most wonderful, liberating day, dear friend :)
Yes, I find myself brave, too 😜... but jokes aside: Thank you for backfeeding me.
I am totally in love with philosophy as well as the asian ancient traditions in talking about the mind.
During my education we had a unit where we exclusively learned about the characters and by means of a sophisticated questionnaire and the numerical evaluation each of us got his own interpretation and was able to recognize the dominant tendencies and types in himself. This method also includes a culmination of all types and presents at the end in the middle of the cross a diamond that reveals or covers the types according to the results. A bit complicated to explain.
A fascinating occupation and one that inspires very much. I'm far from taking this too literally ,.. don't necessarily believe in something like an unchanging essence, but I see tendencies, probabilities, and habits in myself and others. But people can change radically, I have experienced that too, that contradicts the assumption of a core being. I see those tendencies as patterns and habits. As we all know, a habit is quite a strong thing :)
I would agree on your chosen tendencies as they reflect how I got to know you so far. Isn't that fun?
Most people hate paperwork and do it without passion. Then, of course, there is no drive to become good at the details.
Bye, my friend and thank you for coming back and taking your time.
I had fun sorting through your conversation. Quite an interesting turn of mind you always have, Erika. And of course we take from what we've learned those things that make sense to us. We're not automatons. Looking forward to more "conversations", and also to listening to the tape--tonight :)
There were times others liked me functioning like an automaton. Glad, that does not happen on a regular basis. HeHe. Or maybe I just got ignorant about that. Our minds ... yeah, what an abyss.
The tape: lol, I had so much fun. Maybe I feel embarrassed one day, but I don't care.
It's getting late and so my mood also drifts into evening mode. ... Tomorrow is a day off.
Hey, thank you for giving me notice. :) Have fun with your granddaughter! Looking forward to read your opinion. And what the "ants" are doing. lol. Haven't understood that but it sounds funny.
Bye for now, my friend.
Love,
Erika
