You've always looked out for her. Protecting her alone, without anyone else to help. You know she needs it, and you remember how her mother died when she wasn't there to protect her.
You've watched over her for years now, but she's grown older, and each year seems to take away the youth and innocence she used to have. The darkness in her eyes is becoming more prominent instead of less. You notice it the most when she looks into your eyes, as if searching for something to bring her home.
Sitting in the solarium, you're not really sure what to think. She's resting her hand on you, and you suddenly feel her energy. It's like a high-pitched, buzzing noise, but when it comes close, you see it's actually an aura. When you see it's her, you clench your hand in between her own, as if to protect her.
She's looking at you with pain on her face, and it's clear she is desperate for something. Her eyes strain as if she's just seen a ghost. She looks around, and nothing seems unusual. She looks back at you and seems to relax a little. You can sense that she wants to say something, but she doesn't feel she should say it.
Watching her, you get this idea. She hasn't been around much lately, you wonder why. It seems that everything has been finally coming to a close. This is the time for her to let go. This is the time where you say goodbye. This is the time where you say, "I love you."
Yet, you know it can never be. It just doesn't work like that. She gets sick with worry. Tears of sadness and pain come out of her eyes, yet she knows she can't let you know. She has to protect you, but she can't let you know either. She has to move on, but she can't let you. She's sorry for what she has to do, but she knows she must do it. She is leaving. She is going away.
She has to do something, so she asks you to contact her family. She thanks you, but you know the answer is already a "no." She's on her way, and you are supposed to go.
You see her walking out of the castle, but you know it's too late. She has already said goodbye to you, and you know she's lying as she walks out the door. She's going away, but she doesn't know.
You watch her go, and you know she's gone for good. No matter what, she'll always be there.
You turn around, and you suddenly realize she's not there. She's gone. All you see is the cold and darkness of the world she's entering. It's calling her from within, just as it has called you before. It's calling her to her birth rite, but you're afraid. You follow her, as you think she needs you.
She's gone, and you're not sure where she is, but the feeling that she's gone is still strong. The tingling sensation you felt from her is still felt, but it's not her you're feeling.
You know you must go to the woods, and check the old caves. You have to be sure that she's safe. You grab her bow, and you know you cannot reach her in time.
You take off into the forest, and you hope that it's just a bad feeling. But you know it's from her. You hurry to the caves and you see her lying there. She's in a trance, and you know she's in trouble. You run towards her, and you see this creature staring at you. You know it is going to harm her. It is pulling her into this world, the hidden realm where no human has traveled.
You know you must fight it, but you know you can't. You know the only thing you can do is talk to it, and see if it has any respect for you. You talk to the creature, and it turns to look at you. You know you have to say something to it. You have to find out the truth, and find the answer to whether she is lost afterwards. The creature turns around.
Yes, you know he'll talk to you now. It turns around to face you.
It's time. It's time for you to use your power. You know you must save her, and you know you must do whatever it takes to save her. But, you know you cannot kill this creature. It is her protector, and she trusts it.
You know you have to use your mind and the instincts that you have. They will lead you to the answer.
You know you cannot allow this creature to leave here. You must remember your instincts. If she leaves, she will never come back. You owe it to her, but you also owe it to yourself. You know you must remember your instincts. It is as if the spirits are drawing you towards something, guiding you. You notice it is in the water, and you know what to do. The answer is in the water.
You know you must go into the water, but you know it's dangerous.
You know you must tell the creature. You have to tell him that she cannot leave this cave, but you must be careful. You must tell the creature you mean no harm.
You go to the water and you jump into it. You can see the creature in the water. You put your arm forward, showing that you mean no harm. It comes closer to you. It smells you, and you know that it must smell the blood of the Earth. It communicates to you using the light, and it lets you know that it wants you in this world. It wants you in this world because it knows that you cannot leave this world without it. It cannot pass on until it tells you why you don't belong here. You know this creature knows you. You know it knows your name.
You know that with all of your experience, you must tell it the truth. You tell it you must make a sacrifice. You know it will let her go, because she is a sacrifice. You must offer your daughter. It is the only way. The only way to get it to send your daughter home again. Although, you know that it is the only way, you feel it in your heart.
You're not sure if the creature will accept your daughter, but you do know that you must give your daughter. Just as you're about to offer your whole self, you hear your daughter say, “Daddy, I'm here. I'm here.” You know you know you must make the sacrifice. You feel the covenant you have with this creature. The covenant that it lives on for you and you live for it. You know you must give it your daughter. You also know you must make sure she is safe in this world. This world where no human has ever been.
You know you must leave her alone. You can't take her with you. She needs to be left. You know you'll be back to get her, but you know you must let her go. You must leave her alone.
You turn around and you realize that you are alone. The creature has returned your daughter to you. She's lying on the floor, and you know that she's still alive. You know the sacrifice must be made, in order to keep your family safe. You pick up your daughter, and you know she's still alive. She's okay. She's a little scared, but she's okay. You know you must make the sacrifice. You know you must carry on.
