Hmm,$6k would help me get my reef frag tank set up and a hand full of corals to start propagating . then within a year hopefully turn that hobby into a job i can enjoy .

That sounds pretty interesting.. And definitely worth it if it's a passion of yours.
Also if the oceans keep warming its the only way some corals will survive
