In order to build a following and earn Steem on Steemit, you need to develop the habit of consistently posting quality content. Why not make your quality posts the content of a book that you can sell on Amazon.com? Its simple to do. Here's how....

You are going to need 4 things:

  1. Steemit Account
  2. Upwork.com Account
  3. Kindle Direct Publishing https://kdp.amazon.com/
  4. A hobby or passion or topic you are interested in.

Here's what to do.....

A) Pick your favorite hobby or passion or topic that you're interested in. Do a little research or thinking to yourself and come up with ten to twenty of the most frequently asked questions on the topic you chose. You could also come up with "should ask" questions, the questions you think people should be asking about the topic but aren't. Each question is going to be a chapter in your book.

B) Turn each question into a Steemit article over the course of 30 days. Write and post a new question/article every two days. Not only will this turn you into a consistent Steemit poster and a "go to" authority on whatever topic you chose, but you'll also be quickly writing your book and getting paid to do it.

C) On the days when you're not writing a chapter/post, you want to create and set up an account on the sites listed above. Kindle Direct Publishing is where you are going to add the finished copy of your book to make it for sale on the Amazon Kindle eBook platform. Amazon is the most popular website for ebooks and sells the most by far. Short ebooks also sell well on Amazon. You get 70% of the sale if your book is priced between $2.99 and $9.99 and the profits are deposited directly into your bank account every month which is way better than you will ever get from a real publishing house.

Next you want to create and set up an account at upwork.com. Upwork is a website where you can hire people from all over the world to help you do work that you can't do yourself. Its super effective and safe because your funds are held in escrow before they are paid out to whoever you hire ensuring that they do a good job and you can also see reviews and ratings of potential employees before you hire them. Upwork is where you will get your ebook formatted for Amazon Kindle. You can even get your book cover designed here too. Its as simple as posting a job for hire add saying "I need someone to turn my word doc into an amazon kindle file". Once you do that, tons of people will bid on your job. You pick the one you like best. Depending on the length of your book this could only cost you about $20. You can also do the same thing for cover design.

D) After 30 days, you should have enought Steemit posts to make a valuable introduction book to whatever topic you chose. You should have a cover designed and your word document with your steemit posts as chapters should be turned in to a file ready to be uploaded to your Amazon KDP dashboard. All that is left now is to upload your file, choose the price you sell it for and click "publish".

You'll have a book for sale on Amazon that could very well turn into something much bigger and provide an extra stream of passive income month after month.

When posting your request on Upwork make sure to put it in the correct category. I do a lot of work on that site and it is sometimes funny, sometimes just sad, to see people asking about a book cover creation in the press release writing category.

Take the time to pay attention to your Upwork submission, just like you would here on Steemit. You will attract better freelancers this way.

Definitely. Good point.

Thanks for the information. I wanted to be an author when I was young and even wrote 286 pages of a book (that I scraped because I was young and not good at character development). I have thought for awhile about trying my hand at it again and this really outlines a process to follow very well.

Going to resteem this so I have it as a reference and others can see it. Will follow you, follow me too if you like.

Also, you could probably use Fiver instead of Upwork, or even Amazon Mechanical Turk for proofreading. Upwork may still be better as I have not used it, just thought I would add some options. :)

Yes fiverr or whatever will also work, just wanted to show a quick overview of how easy it is to turn your steem posts into a book. Get that book for sale!!!

thanks for the info! I think the OP 's idea can work, but you have to be selective and listen to the feedback in the comments. I see Steemit.com as a laboratory to sharpen up my ideas and how I communicate them. The first draft might be the steemit post but afterwards it needs some critical editing. Here is a fantastic resource on Udemy I followed once (it is free!) teaching editing skills. Should revisit it myself in fact: https://www.udemy.com/secret-sauce-of-great-writing/

It is a good re-monetization idea for those who have a large amount of posts on a similar topic.

Yes thats exactly what I meant to get across. Even shorter under 90 page ebooks sell well on Amazon.

One of these days I'll get something published, and if I do, it'll likely be with help I got from writers like you. Thanks! :)
