I can tell you one of the reasons why I was successful was I asked my staff, you know, what's the biggest problem? Well, nobody wants to work with us. Well, why? I said, well, the captain that used to work for you always came and took the bows and then left, and the captains housing them didn't get any credit. And I said, well, this one's simple.

Every time we have some ceremony where some captain's got to get up there to take bows, tell the facility captain to take the bow. It's okay. I don't care.

And when they did that, suddenly we got the support of the captains at those facilities. And when the county started funding programs heavily, we had some legacy programs that were excellent, but they didn't want to embrace them because they weren't their programs. So there's a lot of bureaucratic rivalries and problems that come into these, particularly big systems like L.A. County, that limit success.

And the other part of it is the Democrats or the left really don't want to invest the time and energy to be successful. They just want to say they went through a class. Now they're healed.

Let them out of prison. Let them out of jail. And that's probably the biggest, the apathy for success.

The success is a lot of work. They just don't got it in them. Well, the other side of this problem is that there's a lot of states that moved away from doing the actual labor, like training and doing the actual trade education while they were in prison and stuff like that.

So hopefully we can get back towards that. I know Louisiana still has that program and a few other states still do, but I know a lot of states that moved away from that because they thought hard labor was difficult or something. Like, I don't know, jail's supposed to just be vacation where you can't leave.
