Writing Tip: Are You Experiencing "Writer's Block?"

in #writing8 years ago (edited)

No, you're not. True Writer's Block is extremely rare. You are experiencing a lack of imagination because you have not ingested enough information on the topic. Simple fix: more input. Go read a book. Or go watch a documentary on the topic you're trying to write about. Your "Writer's Block" will magically disappear, every time.

Yes! My tips are: Dont give a damn about what you write for some time. Dont think of what to write, instead write whatever comes to mind. It might just be jibberish, random words etc. Doesnt matter, first step it to get into the writing again.

This is so true, one can't really say he is having writers block if he reads lots of articles or watches a lot of documentaries. People who feed their minds with a lot of information never seize to have what to share at every point in time. So you are perfectly write .

Never stop reading, and always keep an eye on what famous writers like Kurt Vonnegut, Stephen King, Conan O'Brien, Jerry Seinfeld, and many others are saying about the strategies they use to write well—you never know when you may discover something new.

These are great men(authors) thanks for sharing mark

I find when I rests and rest is the point at which my most prominent inventiveness streams. something about reflection or rest that mixes the capacity to compose. Much appreciated @inertia

I have this impression that "writer's block" is just a fallacy we uphold to justify our laziness or lack of inspiration sometimes
I usually believed in that before until I realized there are diverse things I can do when I lack inspiration in order to motivate myself to write
Now, when I'm stuck with my pen and paper and nothing to write, I simply take a walk outside and come back and write all I saw

Thanks alot for that. I wrote a poem earlier today and i guess i ran out of imagination, had to bring the poem to an abrupt end. Next time maybe i will just watch a movie

Yes! God damn it! Yes!

"writers block"
I believe what the post said because you have not ingested enough info, you need to be creative, leave in the world of imagination and then putting something down wont be a problem.

I strongly agree with you on this one, quality over quantity.

Always see this to my students, they can't form/write their ideas, because they they know the concept and they don't even understand it.

It turns out, the teacher needs to re-explain, re-teach all over again.

I find when I lie down and rest is when my greatest creativity flows. something about meditation or rest that stirs the ability to write. Thanks @inertia

This is true. The fact is that

an empty vessel can only produce nothing but a very loud resounding noise.

you cannot give out information if you don't have.
for anyone to give out any reasonable information the people must be loaded with words and ideas.

if you are not informed, you are deformed.

I have often viewed my brain as a cool machine: I put interesting stuff in and more interesting stuff comes out. Its why I don't really feel like its arrogant or rude to be excited by the ideas /writings/art that "we" created, I'm just amazed by what comes out sometimes 0_0

Absolutely agreed with you ! I do these things to collect some idea about topic.
