Can be a spirit—
Gelatinous,
Elusive,
Evanescent as
A transparent ghost
In a window glass.
But you are more:
You’re a scent,
An essence
That can’t be contained—
Penetrating,
Overwhelming,
Invading my space
A shade
Of violet
In autumn clouds.
An amaryllis,
Occasionally loud.
But, comparisons limp,
You exceed metaphors
You're more than this,
More than you show...
More than my words
Can ever make known.
