RE: The Remarkable Diary of an Earthship Eco Builder Chapter #2. The dream was born.

in #writing7 years ago

HI @eco-alex, really nice to see this post here. Me and hubby have been trying to get our earthship project off the ground since 2011. We even visited Brighton then just to come and see the Earthship! We have got stuck at finding a local authority that is supportive so we are moving to Spain (where I come from) where everything is a little bit easier.
Really like your home, it is amazing. We are planning to introduce the PAHS concept to ours but are still uhming and ahring about the earth tubes. We also considered whether moving to rammed earth forms initially for our temporary toilet and showers (in use while we build the rest) might be a good experiment...
I have to say I have loved acquiring all sorts of skills and knowledge while I have been making the plans... including using sketchup to get an idea of how big and how many tyres we would need!
Anyway, look forward to reading the rest of your posts now. Might just pick your brains at some point! Take care.

thanks for your comment!
Earth tubes (air tubes for natural cooling) have been shown to be very effective in overall cooling.. It wont help much with humidity though, which you need plenty of good air vents and openable windows to deal with..

and YES i also used Sketchup to make my original plan.. it was SO easy to learn and i had a perfect model to take measurements and visualise things with.. Very nice!
