The pilot was named Loryn. She had a cheery personality, and a great heart. Her parents had taught her well, and she knew she was going to make her parents proud. As a child she spent most of her time hanging out with her best friend Jessie, who was starting her first year of Polymer Science. The two of them were inseperable. Every other day of the week they would spend the entire day together, and pretty much do nothing else. At the close of the week, they would go out to lunch, or get something to eat at the local eatery. They also spent every vacation together. They loved riding new bicycles. Many of their vacations had ended as they ran into other cyclists, or their parents would convince them to go to the beach for a few days.
On this day, Loryn and Jessie met outside of school. They talked a bit about Jessies new classes, and what she had planned for the weekend. Her classes were going to be hard, but they were what she wanted to do. Loryn was still thinking about the classes she had in mind. Not exactly sure what she wanted to do. She could go into the Navy, or Air Force. Or she could stay here on her planet, and be a Driver. Jessie and her just talked, and decided neither of them was going to do one of those professions for the foreseeable future.
Jessie wanted to visit her Uncle, who lived out in the countryside. He had taken care of Jessie’s parents since they got married. He was a good man, so Jessie wanted to meet him. Loryn wasn’t quite sure why Jessie wanted to visit her uncles land anyway. Her parents never talked about him. She also wasn’t really sure what time he lived. It could be an hour away from town.
Loryn thought to herself. “It’s still kind of early to go home. Might as well continue talking. We could go for lunch or something.”
Jessie didn’t want to eat, but she didn’t want to upset Loryn either. “Sure we can go. Lead the way.”
Jessie and Loryn walked down the road towards Jessies home. They talked a lot about classes. The people they both liked, and the people they didn’t like. The teachers were always getting mixed up when they mentioned them. They had heard so much about a teacher named Dr. Cramm, that they both wanted to meet him. Jessies parents said he was a very imposing figure with a huge ego. The two girls thought him an unpleasant man. Jessies mom said he was a nice enough guy, she just didn’t like having him around. Her dad had absolutely no idea what she was on about.
“I can’t believe my parents have a student hung up on that man. you must have gotten them to talk about him.”
“Why Dr. Cramm?”
“I live on the other side of the school. Not far from the lake. We met there when he was walking home from school. He was talking about Cramm with one of his friends.”
“Well. That’s just rude. He should never talk about Cramm that way.”
Jessie told Loryn that she is really hung up on him. It seems that one day she was walking home with some friends. They had just started talking about Cramm again, when she walked up to them.
“Oh yeah. He is right up there.”
Dr. Cramm was startled by her face. She was completely lost in thought, and she didn’t even hear him walk up to her. He was about 6’2, and he was wearing an undershirt, and a bit of a gray jacket. a pair of nice jeans. The two girls marveled at how he could wear jeans, and look so put together. He had a nice clean face, and a clean haircut. He was talking to one of his friends. she found herself staring at him, and couldn’t take her eyes off of him. She was sure he noticed her. His friend noticed her when she was looking at Dr. Cramm. He nudged his friend, and pointed at her. She was supposed to be more than a bit embarrassed, and she was. She couldn’t take her eyes away from him.
As he was walking past, his friend came up to her. Dr. Cramm was a little ways ahead of them. He was pretty confident. He felt like he had won a victory because Dr. Cramm was caught off guard. He started talking with her. “Dr. Cramm is the luckiest man around.”
“I guess you think so.”
“Yes I do. Every girl wants to be with him. He is the smartest man in the school. The guys know it too.”
She gave him a little smile. She was a bit worried about having him get too close to her, but she was curious as to why he was saying so much to her. “Well. I might want to give him a chance. How do you know so much?”
“Well. I actually tutored him in math. I was just on the other side of you for a year. He really struggled in my classes, but now he is the smartest kid in the school. He has a great future ahead of him. Even though he does go off on his own sometimes.”
“Well I am sure he will come back and be the same. I don’t have to worry about him staying here. He is very bright.”
“Well. I hope so. But some kids are too cool for school. That is why I took care of him. I felt sorry for him. I mean, he was already ahead of me. but I can see he is going to do well.”
She didn’t say anything, but she wondered if he would leave her him. she wanted to keep talking with him.
As they were approaching the house. She started walking toward the house. He gave her his number, and he asked if she wanted to get some lunch with him. She had to think about it. She was thinking about her Dr. Cramm. Yes. She wanted to do something with him. “No. I don’t think so. I would like to meet you again. But I need to think about this. Dr. Cramm seems very interesting.”
“Well… I worry about him. He is really smart. I know I was behind front of him. I am just glad I could help him out.”
“I know. He seems like a great person. I would like to meet him again some day”
She was smiling as they parted ways. He almost lost his grip on himself. He was very excited, and he had had no idea that he would meet Jessie. He knew one thing. Dr. Cramm was going to be extremely jealous of the fact that he had Jessie first. Jessie was a really cute girl. She came to school with her parents.
